A few days before Christmas we are again rejoicing that God has given us the grace of celebrating another Christmas. Christmas in the year 2022.
The divine Word became flesh and was born in the humility and simplicity of a stable. Who would have imagined that this would be how the coming of the Son of God to earth would happen? No. No one expected it. It seems, my brothers and sisters, that God likes to play with our rational logic. What is explainable, is not funny to God. God has a sense of humor!
Jesus, the beloved Son of the Father, we reason, could have come into the world, at least, with a little pomp and pageantry, with more grandeur and power, and yet, surprise: He is born among the animals of the field, among the shepherds of Bethlehem. So the poor understood, and we too, poor that we are, understand. Only the poor in spirit grasp the grandeur of Christmas, identify it with the newborn. He is one of us! Alleluia! If there was any doubt in revealing His love for humanity now there is no more. Everything has been shown and revealed.
He could have done differently, but if he did, he would have failed to show his solidarity with human pain and misery, with all the poor of all times and in all places. Let us take into our hearts the message of Christmas: Hope, love, joy and peace. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
